Formed in Sacramento in 1984, the band first took the stage as City Kidd before adopting its current name that honors the visionary inventor Nikola Tesla. Their 1986 platinum debut, Mechanical Resonance, delivered hits like “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Little Suzi,” while 1989’s double-platinum The Great Radio Controversy brought anthems such as “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)” and “Love Song.” By the early ’90s, they had cemented their headlining status, shaking up the rock world with their groundbreaking Five Man Acoustical Jam—an album that spawned their biggest hit, “Signs.” Platinum records Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut soon followed, proving their staying power. Since then, the band has continued to record and release new music, including nine albums since 2000, and their latest single, “Time to Rock!” Through shifting trends and changing tastes, they have remained true to their blue-collar work ethic and loyal fans. Decades later, their music endures—rugged, powerful, and timeless, like your favorite pair of boots. A true celebration of rock and roll’s greatest spirit, TESLA is still electrifying stages and selling out shows worldwide.
